Alfa Romeo 4C Spider: Tu Vuò Fà l’Italiano? It Will Only Cost You About $60k

Wanna bend it like Balotelli? Just like any great Italian designer piece, you need to take out the chequebook.

Everyone got pretty excited when they heard that Alfa was making a comeback in America. Even moreso when they unveiled the model our holy land would be graced with: the Alfa Romeo 4C. Then, the sexy Italian got even sexier with its top off, as the 4C Spider was unveiled in Detroit earlier this year.

Now the wait is finally over: Canadian pricing has finally been revealed and the hardtop, mid-engined beauty will be going for $63,900, barely two-grands more than its coupe sister. Let’s be reminded here of what we’re getting for that price and of why it’s a better purchase than an Audi S5. First, well, it’s Italian. They make good coffee, good pizza. And then they make sexy cars. Second, the monocoque architecture is made out of carbon fibre and the chassis from aluminum, making for a super light ride and a great weight-to-power ratio. Third, it is powered by a 1.75-liter (yes, the 0.05 matters!) turbo engine rated at 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, teamed with a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and Alfa’s DNA selector allowing you to choose between four driving modes. Finally, you get a sport-centered cockpit with bucket seats, flat-bottom steering wheel, paddle shifters and metal pedals. That’s amore!

Add a pair of exhaust pipes to produce a nice exotic note, sprinkle some seductive Italian styling, mix-in some luxurious materials and a flight of fancy equipments and options, and voilà. An Italian in all its glory. The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is bound to hit the dealers this summer, so you better get ready to see them on the road. Just in case you get swept away.
